Staff Appreciation Day - May 2012

* The committee is currently looking for ideas on afternoon sessions.
* There are budget issues because this year there are 141 longevity awards
* For those campuses outside of Fairbanks, the committee has provided funding for staff appreciation events in those communities
* To reduce costs E-live instead of Web Streaming will be used this year
* Assistant Vice Chancellor for Administration Services is sponsoring the breakfast.

When I went to the Staff Awards last time, they called each person up individually. This is nice, but made for a long boring awards. At one time they called up the whole group of "5" year folks, and just read all names, congrats, and we got the awards gifts later. Time saving, and still recognized individuals, made for a nice fast awards. Just a suggestion!

Not everyone wants a plaque or pin to commemorate their years of service. As a cost-cutting measure, it might be worthwhile to ask recipients if they would or would not like to receive a fill-in-the-blank.

Thanks for the suggestions! We do try to save time for the awards ceremony. We only read the names of the 20 year + people. The 5, 10, 15 year people will be recognized as a group again this year.
